About Alfrebro

Alfrebro, based in Cincinnati, Ohio, is a quality manufacturer of aroma chemicals, extracts and distillates for the flavor and fragrance industries.

Alfrebro History

The Alfrebro brand was established in the early 1900s by Alex Fries & Brothers, a Cincinnati Flavor Company.  In 1980, the brand was re-launched as an aroma chemical manufacturer.  Since its inception, Alfrebro’s primary focus has been to provide quality natural and high value synthetic chemicals.

Alfrebro’s initial offerings of pyrazines and thiazoles were quickly followed by natural isolates such as ‘Compound 1036’, a natural Kosher Cognac oil substitute.  In 1989, Alfrebro outgrew its original location and new manufacturing facilities were constructed to support increased demand.  The company’s growth continued in the natural chemical market by using fermentation technology to make products like butyric and propionic acids.

As business expanded, additional manufacturing space was added and Alfrebro was recognized by Inc. Magazine as one of the 500 fastest growing small companies in the United States.  In the following years ownership changed, however, emphasis on the chemistry, development, and manufacture of quality natural products remained.  Proprietary technologies developed to manufacture unsaturated aldehydes and ketones as well enzyme catalyzed transformations have been the cornerstone of Alfrebro’s success in the industry.

In 2013, WILD Flavors, Inc. acquired Alfrebro integrating into the business extracts and distillates from the previous acquisition of AM Todd / Moore Ingredients.  Today, Alfrebro offers over 500 natural and synthetic aroma chemicals, extracts and distillates and continues to build on its heritage of quality, innovative aroma chemical solutions.
